A Homemade Body Cleanse - Natural Beauty Tips for Radiant Health

A homemade body cleanse can help improve your skin's appearance, rejuvenate your body and mind, and help you feel healthier. You'll have a fresh outlook and fresher, more beautiful skin when you've finished your cleanse too!

Those who have sensitive skin understand well how much food can affect the quality of the skin. Certain foods and drink can cause our skin to appear blotchy, red, or simply dull and lifeless, no matter how well we follow a good skin care regimen. A cleanse drives the harmful toxins out of the body, leaving healthy looking skin behind.

You can improve the appearance of your skin simply by cleansing your body from the inside out. Although some people like to use an herbal cleanse with pills and powders, did you know that you can also do a cleanse using simple, natural foods?

Following a cleanse, you'll notice that your skin is glowing and that your eyes are brighter. Your natural beauty will shine through effortlessly!

Homemade Body Cleanse Options

There are several ways you can cleanse your body using natural foods. Here are just a few options. If you have any medical or health issues, or are taking medications please consult with your doctor or health practitioner first before you start a cleanse.

Fruits and Vegetables For Healthy Skin

A few days before cleansing, begin to eliminate foods from your diet other than fresh fruits and vegetables.

Set aside 1 to 3 days to eat just fruits and vegetables and drink water. The live enzymes in the fruits and vegetables help to cleanse the body naturally.

Drink pure juices such as apple, papaya, lemon, orange, grapefruit, or tomato.

Eliminate all other foods during cleansing, including caffeine, meat, processed foods, sugars, carbohydrates, etc.

Following the cleanse, slowly add healthy foods like lean protein and whole grains back into your daily diet.

Natural Colon Cleanse

Our colon holds on to a lot of undigested food and toxins we don't need to function, so it's a good idea to cleanse it regularly. Our skin is our largest organ! A natural colon cleanse will improve skin appearance from inside the body.

First thing in the morning, combine warm water and freshly squeezed lemon juice and drink. Take a walk first thing to get your body moving. You will drink this same drink in the evening as well.

Following your walk, drink the following combination: 1/2 cup freshly squeezed apple juice, 1 Tablespoon bentonite clay, 1/2 cup water, and 1-teaspoon psyllium seed.

During the 2-week colon cleanse, eat fruits and vegetables in the raw state. Avoid citrus juices and fruits. Maintain water intake of at least 8-ounces of distilled water per day.

Colon Cleanse Soup

It's not the most appetizing name, but it really does work! You can eat this soup once a day to improve colon health. This is a great option for those who prefer to actually eat something rather than simply eating fruits and vegetables raw.

Add the following ingredients to your soup pot:

  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, roasted if possible
  • 3 cucumbers, seeded, peeled, and diced
  • 2 avocados, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • 1 Tablespoon cilantro
  • 1 Tablespoon parsley

Heat all the ingredients thoroughly and eat! Eating 1-2 cups of this soup each day will help to cleanse the colon and help your skin to appear healthier.

It's easy to make your own homemade body cleanse and reap the benefits of more naturally beautiful skin and a healthier body too!

Here's a little free beauty advice: You are the most beautiful woman that has ever walked this earth. You are a veritable goddess who reigns over her domain with a luster and shine that other woman have only dreamed about. You are a princess. You are a queen. You are an empress. Your beauty warms your domain like the sun warms the land. Your beauty illuminates the sky far brighter than any star. Beauty tip experts will tell you the single most important aspect to your beauty is your own knowledge that you are beautiful.

Three completely free beauty tips. Look in the mirror and notice what a beautiful eye color you have. Stand in front of a full length mirror and admire three things about your figure. Take pictures of yourself with your digital camera or web cam, and create that portfolio of you - and a little more beauty advice here: admire that portfolio often, add to it whenever you can.

No you are not conceited. You are the reason you are beautiful . . . or you are the reason you are not beautiful.

The natural beauty tips we all need to start with our own self esteem and self-image. Beauty starts right at home - in your heart and soul. If you look in the mirror and see only your faults, or see nothing but faults, you will portray them, knowingly or unknowingly. Reverse that bad habit - start seeing all the things that are right with your own natural beauty.

Now onto some more beauty advice. Walk across a room in your heels and favorite skirt or dress: your shoulders are thrown back, your head is held high, your hair and skin are glowing. You feel good. You look good. Your smile radiates out to all that gaze upon you. (even if it is only the sofa and chair - shine for them). You are a Super Model. And you look it every step of the way.

Now that you feel like a million bucks - you look like a million bucks.

You are ready for some more free beauty tips. Make putting on your face creams, lotions, perfumes and make up a luxurious experience. Set your bathroom or bedroom up so that you feel pretty when you go in it. Make sure you have good lighting - not too harsh, not too different from the lighting that you are normally in. Have your favorite beverage. Experience the moment of beautifying yourself.

One final Beauty tip: Enjoy yourself when you are putting on all the things that you have found that work especially well for you. Smile at yourself as you do your creams and foundations. Remember, you are the empress of your own domain. You are the most Beautiful Woman. It all begins with your attitude.

Art Deco | style

Art Deco is eclectic artistic style and design that began in Paris in 1920s

we have noticed many designers already adopted the inspiration of art deco pattern and print, and eclectic style. it becomes very desiarable to mix and match fine art and different styles.
the combination of variety of influences in one look is just represent the demand for freedom from any rules in fashion and art !!

the influnces come from different historical styles such as architecture, painting, graphic, and decorative arts.

fashion designers had
different silhouette to work with. Innovative seaming, draping, gauzy fabrics, beads, and feathers were all called upon
from the mid-1920s the use of seaming as a decorative detail, surface embellishment and abstract, graphic design is a general characteristic of art deco design. the shirt dress a new style was introduced during this period and padded square shoulders .

of course Elsa Schiaparelli had added some fun to art deco period, and we got Prada who is having recembalance philosophy in fashion

Authentic Egyptian Dancing

I like the dancing in this video, but what I really like is the way it contradicts everything we "know" about Egyptian Oriental dance. (In fairness, that's because it's not really an Oriental piece. It would be most appropriate to call this an early theatrical, fusion, or nontraditional dance. But I doubt anyone would question the credibility, authenticity, legitimacy, or “Egyptianness” of the dancer, Egyptian great Naima Akef.) If you are impatient, dancing begins at 1:32.

So many "mistakes!"...

1:32 “Real” belly dance costumes would never have just shalwar. They are underwear! See-through “Harem pants” costumes are just a silly idea that came from I Dream of Jeannie

1:35 Egyptian dancers don't really do anything with their arms except frame their hips, flow through simple pathways (lift up to overhead, push down, repeat..), or maybe some shoulder rolls. They don't use arm movements to mark melodic passages.

1:42 Egyptian dancers don't play finger cymbals. [Okay, a lot of us know that in the old days they did. But this seems to be often forgotten...]

1:46 Egyptian dancers don't run around and use a lot of travel steps. They just stay in one spot and dance with torso isolations.

1:51 Fast turns aren't part of Egyptian vocabulary. Those are only for dancers doing Turkish or Turkic styles.

1:58 There is no use of turnout in Egyptian dance.

2:17 Egyptians consider floorwork to be vulgar. There is no floorwork in Egyptian dance.

2:26 Why do you Americans insist on doing gymnastics in belly dance? Egyptians dancers never use athletic, over-the-top, show-off moves. Egyptian dance is all about subtlety.

3:03 Tight choreography wasn't used by classic dancers.

3:34 There's no use of chainé turns in Egyptian dance. Well, okay, maybe there are some, but only because of Reda influence. But there certainly weren't any pre-Reda.

3:49 Here are more of those travel steps Egyptian dancers never use. They're really more representative of American Vintage vocabulary, adapted from Turkish style.

4:05 Hitting every nuance of the music is “trying too hard.” That's what American dancers do. Not Egyptians.

5:03 Egyptian dancers never mark accents with footwork.

5:35 Travel? Chainé turns? Hops!? Haven't you been paying attention? Absolutely not!

5:52 It's only correct to mark rhythm with hip or shoulder movements.

6:08 No one wants to see you do a lot of footwork. Kicks are okay for Turkish dancers, but if you do them in Egyptian dance every one will think you are too American or just plain unladylike.

6:35 Egyptian dance should always be very relaxed. Very grounded.

6:48 Don't put a barrel turn in your Egyptian dance! Especially don't use a series of fast barrel turns. They're not Egyptian at all and everyone will think you don't know what you're doing!

7:04 A Middle-Eastern audience is totally not going to get your wacky “fusion” dance that you just made up without paying attention to the correct way things are supposed to be done. Maybe random Americans will think that's okay, but you need to be more conservative if you want to be taken seriously by discriminating educated audiences.

I encourage new dancers to learn about the conventions that define traditional styles of belly dance, and obviously it's totally possible to create beautiful, complete, artistic dances within accepted conventions, so there's no reason to flout rules just for the sake of flouting them. But I also think authenticity and adherence to stylistic conventions aren't measures of artistic merit. (Honestly, it's MUCH harder to create a successful dance when you aren't constrained by the conventions of a traditional style.) So my point is: if you like dances created by “rules,” and want to dance within them, do it! You're likely to create a good performance piece. If you don't want to follow “rules,” don't! It will be harder to create a beautiful dance, but, as this video shows, it can be done. And, hopefully, this unimpeachable Egyptian dancer's having done it makes you feel that you have permission to do it too.

Thank you to Baltimore dancer Shems who uploaded this video to YouTube.

Essential Natural Beauty Tips

Natural beauty tips are not only easy to follow but easy on the pocket as well. You have to look and feel great to achieve the level of beauty you always wanted. It is not always how beautiful you look that matters, as suggests, but who you are which goes into creating your persona that will make people notice you. So here are some tips that will help you in creating that persona:

The first and foremost of all natural beauty tips is regarding cleaning your skin. Your face literally has to "face" the harsh environment around you. So use a water-based cleanser to clean your face at the end of the day or when you return from outside. Such a cleanser will not clog the pores and if they are devoid of detergents, moisturizer and artificial fragrances, those with even the most sensitive skin can use it. Then again, as NY Wellness suggest, it is not always the price of the product that determines its usefulness; everyday items like cooked oatmeal, tomato paste, and garlic can be good facial mask for your skin, especially if it is oily. Two more things that will make such a skin beautiful are mayonnaise and smashed banana. Just keep them on your face for 20 minutes before washing off. For exfoliating you dead skin cells, try a mixture of 1 tablespoon of salt and quarter cup of ground coffee.

To add a definition to your face, make sure your eyebrows are well-groomed as such a pair of eyebrow complements the facial features of a person. Trim at night so that no irritation is visible in the morning. Brush it to remove any loose hair. Here are some natural beauty tips regarding how to pluck your eyebrows:

Start your eyebrow at your tear duct and then expand to the outer portion of the iris. Stop just at the outer corner of your eye. Before plucking, apply an astringent to the area; use the tweezers at an angle of 45 degree to pluck the stray hairs. Pick from the root and in the direction of growth.

The last group of natural beauty tips is regarding your lips. Your lips also need exfoliation and for that use a mixture of sugar and olive oil in equal measure. Use a toothbrush to apply this mixture on your lips in a circular motion. For protecting and repairing your lips, especially during the harsh winters, use a lip balm. However, choosing the right lip balm is important, as Great Home Remedies suggests. Adults should pick up lip balms that contain ingredients like rosemary and beeswax.

"Natural" Beauty: Not Because You Like It, But Because Outer Space Boy Likes You Better That Way

Perhaps you've seen this image online recently.

Ladies (and girls, and for that matter men, boys, and individuals who identify somewhere else on the gender spectrum): no matter what you look like, I agree that you're already beautiful without makeup and nice clothes because of the miracle of your unique living, breathing, feeling, improbably alive human body. But I also think you're beautiful in the makeup and nice clothes you choose as expressions of your personality, creativity, and style and I love the artistic ways you celebrate your physicality. And, if your employment or other life circumstances leads you to wear clothes and makeup that anonymize your unique features to make you conform more closely to a conventional beauty standard, I understand where you're coming from and I see the beauty of your craftswomanship.

I understand (and champion) natural beauty not in terms of makeup or the lack thereof, but as the attractive and charismatic quality of confident authentic self-expression.  So if you really care what I think, I suggest, dear "girls," that you show or create the appearance that makes you feel most like the person you are.  But I also suggest that you ignore messages that encourage you to change your appearance for the benefit of someone other than yourself.

Linked below are several discussions of Outer Space Boy, with plenty of good points made in both the articles and comments.

A New Model for Models

From Elle Magazine (Canada):

The women in my research want models—regardless of size or age—to inspire them with glamour, artistry and creativity. One woman said it best: “What’s the point of buying fashion if you’re going to look unfashionable?” The underlying message is that fashion needs to sell aspiration, but it is not a standardized model’s age, size or race that is aspirational; it is the clothes, styling and creative direction of the shoot.

Popcorn and Antioxidants

Watching a movie isn’t complete without a bucket of popcorn. It’s a popular snack all over the world—but is it a healthy one?

The healthy snack

New studies show that popcorn is actually a good source of fiber, whole grains and antioxidants. In fact, Joe Vinson, a chemistry professor at the University of Scranton would even say that this particular snack is the king of snack foods—as long as it isn’t drizzled in butter, cheese, caramel or salt.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that one should go and replace the vegetables and fruits in one’s diet and replace it with plain popcorn. It is not yet certain how much of these healthy antioxidants the body actually absorbs.

The study

Vinson and Coco, Jr. conducted this study by testing four brands of popcorn. After grinding up popped kernels and closely examining them, they found that approximately 90 percent of all polyphenols originated from the popcorn’s exterior as opposed to the actual soft, white portions of the snack.

Fruits such as pears and apples are known to have approximately 160 milligrams of antioxidants per ounce, while in popcorn, about 240 to 360 milligrams per ounce was found. Further studies showed that about 1.5 percent of popped popcorn are composed of polyphenols.

The presence of polyphenols

An antioxidant’s main function is to repair the cellular damage being caused by our body’s unstable molecules, also known as free radicals. Vinson and Michael Coco, Jr., his colleague, presented data suggesting that the exterior of popping corn is extremely rich in polyphenols. This is a sort of antioxidant widely associated with the prevention of cancer.

Polyphenols are often found in various foods that are derived from plants. However, popcorn is a food source rich in this antioxidant because of its minimal processing. Popcorn does not need a lot of processing, as opposed to grains that need to undergo several procedures. Also, popcorn is low in water unlike water-heavy vegetables and fruits, which results in an antioxidant count that is more concentrated.

Of course, one must remember that vegetables, fruits—and even other sources of polyphenols such as dark chocolate and red wine—are more healthful than popcorn. These other foods contain a number of other vitamins and minerals that are not found in popcorn.

Although Vinson and Coco, Jr.’s studies successfully showed information on the rich amounts of polyphenols in popcorn, they strongly discourage people from consuming large amounts of popcorn in order to get their regular intake of polyphenols. It must be said that popcorn is in no way an acceptable substitute for fruits and vegetables.

Popcorn’s exterior, also known as the hull, is also composed of insoluble fiber, which simply passes through the body. Further experiments on humans still need to be conducted to know just how much polyphenols one actually absorbs.

The good news, however, is that thanks to this new study, we can happily munch on popcorn knowing that it is actually good for us, too—if we go easy on the salt and the oil.

The secret to a long life might not be as mysterious as you think. People in the healthiest countries in the world appear to have found ways to increase their life expectancy beyond the average. The five healthiest countries are Iceland, Japan, Sweden, New Zealand and Finland. A Japanese citizen, at the age of 115, is one of the oldest people in the world.

The following infographic explains that there are many ways to increase life expectancy. Frequent exercise is one of the most common habits among the healthiest people. Most healthy people practice mindful eating by not overeating. Healthy individuals get more sleep and try to live a life without stress.

We might not yet have the secret to immortality, but there are easy ways people can increase their life expectancy.

Natural Beauty Tips

Natural beauty is easy when you give your body everything it needs to bring out your own unique style of beauty from the inside out. Success is available to everybody once you know the main areas to concentrate on.

Natural beauty comes from nourishing your skin from the inside out, not from the outside in.

You will never achieve true beauty by spending a small fortune on day creams, night creams, nourishing cream and anti wrinkle creams. These expensive creams may have fancy scientific sounding names but they will not properly nourish your skin.

Although some of the more expensive creams do provide a certain amount of the important substances needed for your skin, it is not enough in this form to provide complete skin care so that your own natural beauty can surface.

Rubbing cream all over your body will not deliver all the necessary nutrients required for your skin cells to regenerate. Most of it will just lay there until you wash it off. Just how much of the cream's active ingredients penetrate your skin cells depends largely on your skin's overall condition at the time.

You must also take into account the concentration of the ingredients and the manufacturing technology used in preparing the cream. Most vitamins have an extremely short live span and if you do not use them up quickly they will soon become useless.

The only way to ensure accurate delivery of the most important nutrients directly to your skin cells is to eat the necessary vitamins and minerals so they are absorbed straight into your bloodstream.

Each cell in your body needs dozens of nutrients to keep it healthy. Vitamins, minerals and amino acids come from food while the body itself produces others providing it is properly nourished and healthy.

The food you eat directly affects your appearance and the condition of your skin as well as every organ in your body and your skin is the biggest single organ.

However, it would be naive to think that changing your diet will smooth out all your wrinkles and completely reverse skin aging. It is equally naive to think you can eat whatever you like without causing any detrimental effects to your natural beauty.

Nourishing your skin with all the nutrients it needs will have an amazing impact on the mechanisms that control the aging of the body as a whole. With these mechanisms inhibited the aging process will slow down, especially the aging of the skin.

Natural beauty is not something that happens through external means, or even overnight for that matter. It can only happen when your body reaches optimum health with all your organs receiving all the nutrients they need to function properly.

Sure, there are those times when we have to go the extra mile and it may show for a day in our overall beauty. Just don't make a habit of it. Sleep is the time when the body regenerates. Let it get its full regeneration.

Natural Beauty Tip #6: Try to reduce stress in your life (and the beauty tips above will all help with that). Nothing shows on your whole body like stress: the way you walk, the look in your eye, the haggard appearance of your skin, the way you talk, even the way you sit in your chair. Here's a little beauty advice: your stress shows on your whole body so do not let that stress become overwhelming.

The funny thing about these beauty tips is that you can easily see that it really is just one big beauty tip: keep yourself healthy and happy and it will show in your skin. Then when you use your creams and make up, and your lovely scents and soaps it will make you even that much more beautiful than you are naturally.

News Roundup: Brains, Noses, and Thai Food

In an interview, provocatively titled "The Wondrous World of Three Pounds of Meat" (in reference to the brain), author Jonah Lehrer discusses Imagine, his new book about the roots of creativity.  Highlight:
When it comes to creative problems, if you've got a feeling of knowing then you should keep on paying attention. You should drink that triple espresso, you should chain yourself to the desk. But in any creative process, at some point you hit a wall—you get stuck. At that point, you should go and take a long walk, let yourself daydream. Then a fresh insight is more likely to occur to you. You might even want to have a beer. A study came out showing that undergraduates who were too drunk to drive solved 30% more creative puzzles than those who were sober.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail reports that nose jobs are on the decline among young Jewish women.  I'm happy for anyone who has a nose they feel good about, whether it's the nose they were born with or a nose they purchased from a surgeon, but I think this is a good sign that more people are accepting a wider definition of beauty.  The Mail suggests:
Today's stars and taste-makers are ethnically diverse and women are encouraged to value the features that make them stand out from the pack.
Finally, the New York Times reports on non-native chefs of ethnic cuisine.  While completely non-dance related, there are still some parallels to the experiences of native and non-native ethnic dancers that may be of interest to readers.
Distance may allow a chef to explore traditions without the baggage of having to follow Mom’s recipes to the letter, even if the goal is to stay true to the original dishes. “My greatest gift is that I don’t have a Mexican grandmother,” Mr. Bayless said, “so I can look at all Mexican grandmothers as equal. If you grew up with this food, you’ll defend to the death the way your family makes a dish. So sometimes, with lots of experience, you can speak with a bit of a broader perspective.

Written from a different perspective, the author of the NYT piece (Francis Lam) follows up in a discussion with a Chinese-American colleague, offering equal, uh, "food for thought."
Francis: Well…would you prefer Stupak to say: "I'm doing food that's not really Mexican, it's a mashup of that and what's in my own head"?

Eddie: This is totally unfair of me to tell someone what to say. But, you asked me a question and I’ll answer it. If I could write his press release, I'd say, “I'm making modern New American food that borrows ingredients and techniques from a Mexican pantry.” Or, make fun of it like Danny Bowien [of Mission Chinese Food] does and basically say, “I love Chinese food. I don't know what I'm doing, but I respect this, that and the other Szechuan restaurant. Please don't consider me a master, I'm just a dude with a tea pot full of dirty girl drinks.” Danny Bowien is a guy who NAILS it in terms of messaging. He does funky hybrid party Chinese food that I think we're all honored to be the inspiration for. Danny hit me on twitter today wanting to put my Hainan Lobster Rice on the menu, do it! I love that people like Danny and Kareem Abdul Jabbar are interested in our culture in an inquisitive and honest way. I think Stupak is the same. His wife is Mexican and there’s a genuine passion, plus who am I to judge. I’m just saying, we need accurate messaging because it’s offensive to the diaspora. The culture needs to consider the villagers.

Core Training 101

Core Stability has become a very hot topic and with good reason. Really it has only been since the 1980's that serious research has been done in the area. Overall the results have been rather astounding and should be considered a bit revolutionary in regards to fitness, health, and athletics.

Generally speaking the spine is a rather weak point for the human body, when you consider the range of motion we constantly put ourselves through. Twisting, bending, or even maintaining a straight position while supporting large amounts of weight can put a lot of pressure on a small point along our spine. The worst thing about it is that an injury can develop gradually without much of a warning until suddenly something slips out of place.

Personally I had this exact thing happen to me. While I worked out regularly and played sports, I never focused very much on 'core stability'. Then one day when I was running, I stepped down off a curb and the impact of my foot on the pavement sent a jolt up to my spine. The next day I couldn't walk. From a big picture standpoint my injury was not that major and I was fully recovered in a few weeks. But the fact that I was so vulnerable to such an injury by doing something so simple caused a lot of concern.

Since that injury many years ago, core training has been a staple of my routines and I have not suffered any sort of back injury since then.

Core Basics

The core is comprised of all the muscles in the trunk area of the body. Everything that wraps around the midsection and supports the spine should be considered part of your core. Far too many people, myself included, simply focused on abdominal work and occasional lower back work. But that creates an imbalance in the core muscles. You need to have a relatively equal level of strength to create proper balance in the entire core which means working everything regularly.

All of these muscles combine to make a bridge between your upper and lower body. The bridge needs to be strong in all areas including connectors to the hips. Aside from preventing an injury, a strong core helps your balance, strength, and stability. Athletes from all types of sports have learned that a great core increases their performance in numerous ways. This added functionality helps in everything we do including keeping good posture.

Core Training

Ideally core training is very functional. It incorporates twisting, bending, stretching, and working the entire trunk regularly in variety of angles and positions. Personally I don't just train abdominals anymore. I do core exercises on 'Ab' days and constantly shift the exercises I do for variety. Then I target the lower back muscles on back day to go with deadlifts and other exercises.

It is highly recommend by fitness professionals that you should switch from doing just basic abdominal work to instead incorporating a regular core training routine that should be done at least twice a week. There are plenty of sample core routines you can find on this site. With an overwhelming amount of benefits from having a stable core, there really is no good reason not to include it in your regular training routine. On top of everything else, a well toned core is much shapelier and visibly appealing beyond what you get from just working your abdominals.

What You'll Learn (or Miss) on June 23 and 24

I'll be teaching the choreography in the clip below, along with technique and other material, in my upcoming NYC workshops.

To learn more about the dance in this video, see my blog entry on my sister site, Workshop information here.

Gymnastics Fusion

It seems to be fashionable to complain about how there is "too much gymnastics" in contemporary nightclub style belly dance, particularly in regard to influence from the former Soviet Union. I have mixed feelings -- I appreciate athleticism, but generally don't like aggressive styling in the context of traditional belly dance. But anyway, here's an fSU example of belly dance in gymnastics that I think is wonderfully successful fusion. The dancer/athlete is Russian rhythmic gymnast Yulia Sinitsina. Look at the beautiful lyrical lines of her arms and feet.

Here's another clip of the same piece.  The video quality is not as good, but this one has no sports commentator talking over the music, and without the cuts between cameras it's a little easier to both see the composition and appreciate the enormous floor space she covers.

Tea Tree Oil For Effective Mole Removal

Tea tree oil has become well renowned for its medical properties. Furthermore, medical research has shown that tea tree oil has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. This makes tea tree oil an effective home remedy against many cuts and grazes. Therefore, it has bee prescribed for the use amongst the Australian army during the Second World War.

Generally speaking when it comes to skin problems the application of tee tree oil is a very effective method to combat skin blemishes. Particularly, it is a great way of removing moles and warts.

It is by far the easiest and safest way of doing so. There seems to be an emerging consensus that the application of tea tree oil gradually destroys the mole on a molecular level.

A few weeks of application is very likely to remove them completely. There are also a number of reasons which set tea tree oil apart from other mole treatments, therefore making it the best choice for most.

Pros of using Tea Tree Oil.

  • There are no ill side effects to applying it which is. Indeed surgical removal of moles can leave nasty marks which are not to be desired.
  • It is inexpensive. Indeed, it is a lot cheaper then going to the doctor and most or any pharmaceutical mole removal creams.
  • It is found to be effective against all kind of moles. Certain kind of moles tends to be more difficult to remove, often necessitating incision within the skin to remove the mole permanently.
  • It is a natural way. Any way in which you look at it natural remedies always tend to be the most effective in the long term when it comes to health and at least you know that you're not applying something toxic to your skin.
  • It is easy to apply. All you have to do is soak a cotton swab in the tea tree and then apply it to the area where the mole is.

There are really very few problems with the use of Tea Tree oil but they do exist.

Cons of Using Tea Tree Oil

  • There is no guarantee of it working for you. No formal studies have been done on its effectiveness when it comes to moles.
  • It takes time to work. It may a few weeks for it to really get to work and numerous applications during the day.
  • It can stain clothing. Because it is oil it is likely to leave a residue.
  • In rare instances you may find yourself to be allergic to Tea Tree Oil. For this reason it is prudent to test weather you have any adverse reaction to it.

Overall, I would recommend Tea Tree Oil as a one of the first lines of defense against moles and various skin blemishes. The Cons of using it as a treatment are rather negligible.

4 Ways to Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Though it can feel good to have the sun's rays shining down on your body it can also be very dangerous if you don’t take steps to protect your skin. The warm sunshine may feel nice now but will not look nice later when the skin prematurely ages and the possibility of skin cancer arises.

Stay Out Of The Sun

The first way to protect the skin from the sun is simply to stay out of it as much as possible. This does not mean you have to stay inside all of the time, it simply means you should exercise caution when spending time in direct sunlight. If you are spending time at the beach try to spend a majority of the time in the shade like under an awning at a beach pavilion or a large beach umbrella.

Wear Sun Protective Clothing

Another way to protect one's skin from the damaging rays of the sun is to cover up with clothing. Instead of going bare chested at the beach, try covering up with a t shirt. There are also sunscreens that can be added to a wash cycle. That can add sun protection to the clothes so they offer even greater protection.

Wear Sunscreen

The most important things to do when spending time outdoors in the sun is to wear sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen is the only way to keep the sun's rays from damaging the skin when your skin is exposed to them. Try to put on sunscreen every morning before leaving the house and remember that the term SPF references how much time the sunscreen will be effective for. If a sunscreen is SPF 30 it means that it will protect the skin for 30 minutes before losing it's effectiveness. Taking a bottle or tube of sunscreen and reapplying during the day is the only way to ensure continuous sun protection.

Sun Protection Window Tinting

People who drive tend to have more sun damage on the left side of their face and arms than on the right side. This is because people who drive expose their left hand to the sun as it is streaming through the car window. Luckily there are window tinting kits that can be used to block out the harmful rays of the sun and stop them from reaching the body while driving in the car.

Better than a DVD?

"Move," a smart shirt with alignment sensors, claims that it will "guide you toward optimal performance and precision in movement in an ambient, precise, and beautiful way." Not surprisingly, belly dance is not mentioned as a potential application (other dance forms are), but this sounds like an interesting concept for distance learners.

Is Tap Water Bad for You?

Bottled water in America is a multi-billion dollar industry. Americans spend billions of dollars on bottled water, yet just about all of those people have a source of water right in their homes that costs a fraction of the price. Why do we spend so much money on bottled water when we can just turn on the faucets in our kitchen sinks? Water is essential to our bodies; it keeps us healthy and alive. But is one type of water really that much better for us? Some people are actually scared to drink the water in their homes. They use it to bathe and cook with, but they just won’t drink it. Why not? Is tap water bad for you?

Tap Water in a Developed Country

When you compare tap water across America to tap water in undeveloped countries all over the world, it’s hard to consider our tap water “bad.” In some other countries, it truly is bad to drink the water, and contaminated drinking water can kill millions of people every year. When you compare our tap water to water sources elsewhere, you see an example of what unsafe drinking water actually is. In those countries, they need bottled or filtrated water. Here, we don’t necessarily need bottled water, but we seem to prefer it and consider it safer and healthier. Is it really?

Bottled versus Tap

Bottled water advertisements and labels tell us that the water is completely purified, and they make us think the water they bottle comes from the most natural of places, like mountain springs and glaciers. The truth is that bottled water often comes from the same places as tap water does; the only difference is that it’s filtered a few more times. The extra filtration doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. In some lab studies, tap water was found to have no higher concentration of bacteria or germs than bottled. And for people who think bottled water just tastes better than tap – in many, many blind studies, people have consistently been unable to differentiate tap water from bottled.

Chemicals in Tap Water

Most people think that tap water is bad for you because it contains a lot of chemicals. They’re partially correct. Tap water does contain chemicals, but it doesn’t contain “a lot” of chemicals. Chemicals like chlorine and fluoride are used to treat the water and kill any germs that may exist in it before it’s delivered to your home. In large amounts, chlorine is toxic. However, the levels of chemicals like chlorine that are found in tap water are not enough to harm you. Another concern is lead, which sometimes enters tap water when pipes are corroding. Lead is dangerous, but again significant amounts are not present in tap water.

The Verdict

In the end, tap water is not bad for you. Water is good for you, no matter what. However, there have been some rare cases of tap water contamination. If you’re worried, you can perform a home test of chemicals in your drinking water. Alternatively, you can purchase a carbon filtration system that will purify your tap water and eliminate your need to buy bottled water ever again.

Olympic Health Tips from London 2012 Top Athletes

The brilliance and determination of Olympians can inspire us to participate in more sporting activities, however, most of us prefer to sit on the couch and watch as the athletes excel on television. In order to spur us spectators on, many athletes have released some Olympic health tips to help us achieve gold in our personal health routines and implement exercise and sport into our regular lifestyles.

Sophia Warner
For many individuals, developing a career and raising a family often stands in the way of managing a healthy lifestyle and exercising. However, there is always that spectacular minority who set an example to the rest, for example those who are providing us with Olympic health tips.

Paralympic athlete Sophia Warner reached the peak of her career at the mature age of 37. The lighting fast sprinter won silver in her class at the 2011 World Championships, thanks to a rigorous training schedule. In between caring for her two children, Warner trains for six hours a day, five times a week. For balancing such an act she gets gold for determination, thus remaining determined is her number one Olympic health tip.
Debbie Flood

Not everyone can manage such heavy training, but rowing Olympian Debbie Flood offers her Olympic health tip quote; “Not everybody wants to do as much training as an Olympian but everyone is capable of getting fitter and achieving in sport!" Flood advises that there are a variety of ways to keep fit, such as joining clubs or the gym, doing exercises at home or doing recreational walks in the countryside.

Always set yourself a goal, no matter how big or small, to be your primary source of motivation. When things start to get tough, think back to that goal in order to push yourself forward. Another top Olympic health tip is to respect your body and get excellence out of yourself. According to Flood, sports and exercise is good for body, mind and spirit.

Jessica Ennis
World heptathlon championship and Olympic poster girl Jessica Ennis also gave her Olympic health tip. According to her, to be truly fit training must be progressive.

Doing the same training everyday will not help you achieve your goal. Therefore training must be regular, yet different. In order for it to become a habit, training must also be fun otherwise motivation will soon decrease. Whether your sport is on the field or in the pool, these Olympic health tips will get you right on track.

Fashion lessons | Sex and the city

this post i share from a stunning blog The simply Luxurious Life

i am a fan of Sex and the City!! but i always wish to have the skills of expersssing my feelings and thoughts of shothing i love by words
so here is the job is done for me !!

Fashion Lessons
1. Know your signature style. Each woman had their own style. Charlotte – a very classic and uptown girl, Miranda – quite professional, yet with a bit of a twist, Miranda – trendy, costume jewelry and colorful, and Carrie’s – unique, but a clear understanding of how to mix trends with classics and was comfortable taking risks that worked with her figure.

2. Have fun with fashion. Patricia Field, the head-stylist for Sex and the City, quickly acquired, due to the growing success of the show, all sorts of designer wares to choose from. Having so many choices, she was able to play and dive into what fashion is all about – self-expression. As mentioned in #1, each character had a signature style, but she stretched it ever-so-slightly each season. Fashion should be fun, as it is an extension of who we are, but at the same time, it is just fabric and you can wear something different tomorrow.

3. Mix and match. In the first movie, Carrie wears a black studded belt that Patricia Fields shares was a vintage find. Carrie wears it so many different times in the movie that she allegedly named it ‘Roger’. Paired with dresses and coats, this simple item is the perfect example of mixing high items with low items, new and old items, and feminine items with masculine items. In other words, mix it up.

4. Accentuate your strengths. Charlotte had the classic pear shaped figure, and she styled her curves sublimely. There were many outfits that Carrie wore that had Charlotte worn the exact same thing, it would not have been flattering.  However, Charlotte owned what she had, and I have to say, her classic style always impressed.

5. The thirties and beyond can be even better. The ladies in SATC demonstrated that beauty and better quality of life can in fact increase as we age. By taking care of ourselves, respecting our bodies and skin, we grow into the beauty and potential that is possible if we treat ourselves well.

6. Play with trends, but don’t let them define your style. Each season runway trends were seen in Carrie’s wardrobe, but she never fell prey to wearing them exactly as they appeared on the runway. Patricia Fields always played them up or down with accessories, layers, or a unique up-do, but never did the trend overshadow the woman.

7. Invest in your retirement/home/savings/etc before purchasing a pair of Manolo Blahniks.  Very few women will forget the episode where Carrie utters, “I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes.” Certainly the obvious lesson is to put your future, your security, first - then go shopping.

Life Lessons

1. Don’t live to please or find a man.  Each of the four women were loved by the audience because they were unique individuals. More than likely you can relate in some way to at least one of these characters (Carrie’s emotions, Miranda’s determination, Charlotte’s romanticism, Samantha’s risk-taking gumption). But the lesson throughout the entire series and throughout the movies is that they didn’t lose their sense of self even when they were involved with men.
Always keep the hobbies you love, the friends you cherish and the dreams you still long for alive because if a man simply wants a puzzle piece, he’s not going to truly love you for how special you really are. Let them get to know you, gradually, but truthfully, and eventually, you will find someone who you adore for who they are (quirks and all), and visa versa. Live for your dreams and the woman you is continually growing and evolving.
2. Nurture and be appreciative of your female friendships. The series, at its core, was one about the relationships between these four women. Without their chemistry, loyalty (and the paycheck to keep them on the set), there would be a huge chasm. Their bond gave them strength, a boost during the tough times that life inevitably will throw at us all at one time or another and someone who allowed them each to be who they were honestly and authentically.

3. Let go of those who don’t want to be in your life or respect who you really are. A la Aleksandr Petrovsky.

4. Financially, be able to take care of yourself. While Carrie’s ability to shop on the budget of a freelance writer was a bit of a fantasy, the one thing all four of the women had were careers. Each woman was able to take care of themselves financially. Follow their lead.

5. We can plan, but that doesn’t mean it will go as planned. Miranda’s rigid boundaries nearly prevented the relationship with Steve and an eventual move to Brooklyn, but when both occurred, her life unfolded in beautiful ways she hadn’t imagined. While we must always plan, we must also be willing to swerve a bit along the way.

6. Embrace your singleness

"The most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself," she said. "And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous." – Carrie Bradshaw
7. Know when to hang on to the right man. While the movies where a bit fairy-taleish, they both demonstrated that as we get older, relationships only become more emotionally involved because we are no longer dating wildly inappropriate people. We do begin to make better decisions, as long as we are conscious about the mistakes we have made in the past. But there will come a time when we find someone who is perfect for us (if indeed that is what we’re looking for), someone who makes life all the more full. Because wherever you are together, it’s home, and that is beautiful.

8. Choose yourself

“It wasn’t about . . . choosing a man or choosing a bag or choosing a life.  It was about, choose yourself.” -Michael Patrick King
As the promotion for the second film was making its rounds, the writer of the script and series, Michael Patrick King, shared this statement with Elle, and I have been convinced that self-respect breeds self-confidence breeds the life of our dreams, whether it goes according to plan or not.

Well, those are a handful of the many lessons Sex and the City taught me. I’d love to hear what lessons you have incorporated into your life as a fan of the series and the movies. And since there won’t be any more premieres of this beloved show, here’s to writing and starring in our very own fabulously stylish and uniquely lived lives every single day
